Running in college has been a great idea so far. I run mainly to keep my weight down, because the cafeteria here serves junk (one scoop of meat sauce for pasta is 1500 calories). It is a good distraction from hard schoolwork as well.
MY SCHOOL: For engineering and math majors- division III- thirty two runners (coed- 10 girls included). Our school placed second out of thirteen in the last race.
- training camp started five days before school, so I got to set up my room before my roommate arrived. I lost ten pounds due to liquid lost and gained most of it back in two weeks.
- instead of repeat 400's we do repeat 1600's.
- we get two easy days a week, including Sunday, which we are required to run.
- I have been in pain for 28 days.
- The common male race is 9k, and the common female race is 5k. During track season, the longest event is the 5k instead of the 2-mile. There are no coed races.
- In the last race I did horrible due to illness and still got a time of 31'30''. My place was 91 out of 130. All grades run races together.
- Engineering is hard. If you never took calculus and physics X in high school, forget it. Some freshmen on my floor already have drinking problems.

Wow man, that seems hard. Idk where i would post this... but what are your guys's hardest workout for XC or Track? Well, mine is 6X1000 meter sprints, 4X400 meter sprints, and then 4X200M Sprints. Well, i guess the 1K's werent sprints! lol. Other than that, i ran 80 min. and got in 14 miles. But this is for highschool. (Im a sophmore.) What do you guys do for 'hard' workouts for college?
Josh :-D
